I thought it would be nice to take a short walk through the natural sights of Jeju Island, discussing, of course, the merits of the beauty ingredients we will find on our way.

Mount Hallasan

Hallasan, considered the heart of Jeju County, is a latent volcano located in the center of the island, which plays a vital role in balancing the area’s ecosystem. More than 50 unique plant species in the world bloom here every year.

The incredible women-diver Haenyeo

On Jeju Island, there is a community of women, some 80-90 years old, who dive to depths of more than 10 m to collect seaweed, shellfish, and other seafood in a unique way: without the help of masks oxygen – 7 hours a day, 90 days a year. It is one of the most extraordinary and beloved plants in Jeju. Why? Because of the 15 species of the genus Acanthopanax, A. koreanum grows only on Jeju island. It is used in traditional Korean medicine to treat diseases such as rheumatism, diabetes, or hepatitis.

Recent studies have shown the effectiveness of Acanthopanax koreanum extract on the skin too. Thus, it inhibits melanogenesis (production of excess pigment) and has anti-inflammatory properties.
